Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, warmly welcomed Ambassador Sadiq Silla, Ambassador of the Republic of Sierra Leone to the Arab Republic of Egypt, for a productive discussion on enhancing cooperation between their countries on Sunday 25 August, 2024 at the New Administrative Capital.
The meeting, attended by key officials from both ministries, emphasized the strong historical ties between Egypt and Sierra Leone, with a shared commitment to expanding collaboration in the industry and transportation sectors.
Deputy Prime Minister El-Wazir highlighted Egypt’s pioneering achievements in infrastructure development under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, reflecting the country’s regional and international standing He reiterated Egypt’s unwavering support for African nations, emphasizing President El-Sisi’s dedication to fostering partnerships across the continent.
Ambassador Silla expressed Sierra Leone’s keen interest in deepening cooperation with Egypt, particularly in transportation and infrastructure projects. Both sides explored potential joint initiatives, including road and bridge construction projects in Sierra Leone, leveraging Egypt’s expertise in the field.
Discussions also centred on enhancing maritime trade between the two countries, with plans to establish a shipping line to facilitate the exchange of goods. Additionally, cooperation in the industrial sector, utilizing Sierra Leone’s natural resources like palm oil, was explored as a means to further economic development.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to exploring new avenues of cooperation and fostering mutual growth and prosperity between Egypt and Sierra Leone.
