His Excellency Ambassador Sadiq Silla and his accompanying delegation met with Ayman Abdel Moneim Mukhtar Hassan, Governor of Dakahila Governorate in Mansoura on Tuesday, 6 December 2022, and were given a warm reception by the Governor to discuss bilateral ties.
H. E. Ambassador Sadiq Silla declared that the purpose of the visit was to establish economic and trade relations that can make Sierra Leone a hub for commercial activities and support the development of trade systems to improve import and export flows.
The meeting discussed ways to develop joint economic and trade relations and share promising potentials for this joint trade and investment in the fields of medicine, defense, cotton, electrical appliances, tiles, and furniture.
The meeting also tackled the signing of twin cooperation between Dakahila Governorate and any district in Sierra Leone. This is aimed at assessing business potentials that are directly related to the needs of the Sierra Leone market.
The meeting was attended by a number of senior Mansoura businessmen, prominent among the list was Eng. Ahmed Roab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce in Dakahlya which represents an important step towards strengthening trade relations between the two countries and a distinct opportunity to increase Egyptian – Sierra Leonean exports and imports and meet the needs of Sierra Leonean agricultural crops and food products.
The parties pledged to work hard to provide and share essential data and overcome all challenges that hinder trade exchange, especially in the area of direct shipping lines between the two countries. This idea may contribute to the development of inter-trade movements and facilitate the volume of trade and transfer of entrepreneurs between Egypt and Sierra Leone.
Furthermore, the meeting underlined the importance of supporting mutual efforts to set up a trade fair in Sierra Leone which will aid the selection of needs of the Sierra Leonean market for Egyptian products.
At the end of the meeting, they stressed the need of signing a memorandum of understanding to commit the two sides to the fields of developing joint trade relations, strengthening cooperation, and benefitting from Egyptian expertise and capabilities in the fields of agriculture, exhibition, and more.
The team was taken on a tour of the industrial district where he had the opportunity to attend an exhibition of products made in Egypt ranging from foodstuffs, skin and body care products, building materials, beddings, mattresses, and pillows, cleaning and disinfectants, air fresheners, moisturizers, blenders food for fish ponds, Water treatment facilities and a wide array of Egyptian finished products.
