His Excellency Ambassador Sadiq Silla continued his routine of visits, this time, he was received at the venue of the meeting by Hon. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt on Monday, 31 November 2022.
At the start, the Prime Minister congratulated Ambassador Silla for the call and praised the brotherly and cooperation relations between Egypt and Sierra Leone stressing Egypt’s permanent interest in developing and strengthening cooperation relations with their brothers from African countries, especially since the African dimension is one of the deeply-established dimensions in Egypt’s foreign policy.
In his speech at the meeting, Ambassador Sadiq Silla thanked the Prime Minister for the warm reception, stressing that it reflects Sierra Leone’s interest in strengthening cooperation relations with African countries. He stressed that Sierra Leone has a great interest in different fields but prioritizes Agriculture, Infrastructure, Education, Marine, Security, Tourism, and transportation and is taking serious steps to reach a milestone in those directions. The ambassador mentioned some proposals and expressed willingness to cooperate with Egypt in the agricultural field, as well as proposals to increase the volume of trade exchange and enhance the presence of Egyptian and Sierra Leonean goods of high quality at competitive prices in Sierra Leone and Egyptian markets, both sides stressing that to discuss the details of this cooperation with the concerned ministries.
Ambassador Silla furthered that the move demonstrates the Embassy’s seriousness to make Sierra Leone’s interest to cooperate with Egypt on a large scale in line with international standards. He assured that if we stand in the true spirit of Africanism, jointly confronting the challenges of the present, our determination can assist us to overleap the obstacles.
For his part, Ambassador Sheriff Mukhtar, Deputy Minister Assistant Foreign Minister for West Africa said Egypt and Sierra Leone can work together to harness opportunities in the fields discussed and promote cooperation.
Ambassador Silla was accompanied by Financial Attaché, Joseph Bob Flickinger, and Secretary to Ambassador, Soha Z Rahme, and Information Attaché, Mohamed B. Kallon.
