Speaking on the key considerations for the next 10 years of the Agenda 2063, Amara Kallon, Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs said the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Annual ministerial meeting, National Development Planning Community of Practice that the Forum serves as the APRM Continental platforms for supporting member states in the domestication, implementation and monitoring of Agenda 2063. This event is held on 10 September Cairo, Egypt.

This session was organized on the theme “addressing governance oriented policies to implement agenda 2063:the Africa we want and Agenda 2030 for sustainable development.” This subject matter looks at how the national agencies are implementing the national development plans that are driven and guided by data and how this has been communicated with the public. It also looked at the evidence and insight to bring about change through the exchange of poverty experiences, the multidimensional poverty indices to end poverty, and how to tackle African developmental challenges through the national development plan.

Expanding on Sierra Leone’s strides in meeting these goals, the minister said Sierra Leone has been visibly committed to implementing both agendas at the national level. The minister declared that the Sierra Leone has shown commitment through reporting on Agenda 2030 in three occasions ranging from the United Nations, at the High-Level Political Forum and twice on Agenda 2063 progress through national reporting submitted to the African Union Commission for the preparations of the continental reporting on Agenda 2063. Also, he mentioned how Sierra Leone is leveraging Human Capital Development by focusing on education and technology which are tools linked to poverty alleviation.

Similarly, through these reporting interventions, the minister said Sierra Leone recorded some achievements as far as alignment of National Development Plans (NDP) with Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063 are concerned.

On the other hand, the minister highlighted the bottlenecks Sierra Leone is facing. Key amongst the chunk, the minister highlighted included mobilization.

However, the minister expressed optimism in importing some of the key reforms on the roadmap to achieve the national objectives in the form of support from the government of Egypt to the Sierra Leone Public Sector. He was sure that the meeting would only be the beginning of further stronger collaboration and integration between APRM Family members, which could be extended to others on discretionary demand to be part of this peer-learning process
